New economic era for Sudan as US removes Sudan from the list of states sponsoring terrorism

Friday, December 18, 2020

On Monday 14th December 2020, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that the United States administration has formally rescinded Sudan's status as a state sponsor of terrorism, removing the biggest barrier to Sudan’s access to international lending institutions and economic development.

In a statement Pompeo said “Sudan's designation as a state sponsor of terrorism is officially rescinded. This represents a fundamental change in our bilateral relationship toward greater collaboration and support for Sudan's historic democratic transition”.

This move signals the end of 27 years of heavy American Sanctions which will help reform the economy, create jobs and attract investment.

SCLO is looking forward to a bright future working with foreign investors during this exciting time.
