Sudanese Commercial Law Office (SCLO) was founded in Khartoum in 2007 with a single purpose: to give international clients direct, reliable access to Sudanese commercial law. Today, SCLO is the only Chambers Global-ranked law firm in Sudan with a permanent UK presence, operating from Khartoum and Cardiff.
Our founding principal, Wael Abdin, is dual-qualified in Sudan and England and Wales — one of a small number of Sudanese lawyers to hold SRA registration. Every member of the SCLO team is bilingual. We work to the standards international clients expect, while navigating Sudanese law the way only a locally embedded firm can.
SCLO operates across ten practice areas and ten industry sectors. We act in transactional work, litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters. Our clients include multinational corporations, Magic Circle law firms, development finance institutions, and international organisations including ICARDA and the Near East Foundation.

SCLO publishes regular legal analysis on Sudan investment law, regulatory developments, and market-entry issues — written for international law firms, investors, and institutional clients.
From energy and infrastructure to pharmaceuticals, telecoms, and diplomatic missions — SCLO's sector expertise is built on years of embedded practice in the Sudanese market.
SCLO advises on dispute resolution, PPP and project finance, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate law, contracts, employment, and more — across ten practice areas governed by Sudanese law.
SCLO's bilingual team combines Sudanese legal expertise with international commercial standards — qualified, experienced, and embedded in the Sudanese market.
